Introduction

Thank you for your interest in publishing with EIU Press.

EIU Press publishes scholarly books, doctoral monographs, conference proceedings, textbooks, professional handbooks, and other academic and educational resources that contribute to the advancement of knowledge, research, innovation, and professional practice.

Authors are encouraged to review these guidelines carefully prior to submission.

Types of Publications Accepted

EIU Press welcomes submissions in the following categories:

Academic BooksScholarly works addressing academic, professional, or interdisciplinary topics.
Doctoral MonographsDoctoral dissertations adapted for publication as scholarly monographs.
Conference ProceedingsCollections of papers presented at academic conferences, symposiums, and scholarly events.
TextbooksEducational materials designed for undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral education.
Professional HandbooksPractice-oriented publications intended for professionals, educators, leaders, researchers, and practitioners.
Edited VolumesCollections of chapters authored by multiple contributors and coordinated by one or more editors.

Language

Submissions must be written in clear, professional English.

Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to obtain language editing prior to submission where necessary.

Both US English and UK English are accepted; however, spelling and style should remain consistent throughout the manuscript.

Originality Requirement

Submitted works must be original.

Authors must ensure that:

  • The manuscript has not been plagiarized.
  • All sources are properly cited.
  • Copyright permissions have been obtained where required.
  • The work does not infringe upon the rights of others.

Authors remain fully responsible for the content of their submissions.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use

Authors may utilize artificial intelligence tools to support writing, language improvement, literature exploration, and editing.

However:

  • Authors remain fully responsible for all content submitted.
  • AI systems may not be listed as authors.
  • Fabricated citations, references, data, or quotations are prohibited.
  • Authors must verify the accuracy of AI-generated content.
  • Significant use of AI tools should be disclosed where appropriate.

Submission Requirements

Authors should submit:

  • Author biography (100-200 words)
  • Author photograph (optional)
  • Abstract or book description (150-300 words)
  • Keywords (5-10)
  • Completed publication proposal form (where applicable)

Manuscript Formatting

Authors should prepare manuscripts using the official EIU Press Book Template.

General formatting requirements include:

Page Size6 × 9 inches (preferred)
Citation StyleAPA 7th Edition unless otherwise approved.

Figures, Tables, and Images

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

  • Figures are high quality.
  • Images are clear and legible.
  • Tables are properly formatted.
  • Permissions have been obtained where necessary.

Figures and tables must be numbered sequentially and referenced within the text.

Peer Review

Submissions may undergo editorial review, peer review, or both.

Review procedures will vary depending on the publication type.

The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to determine the appropriate review process for each submission.

Possible editorial decisions include:

  • Accept
  • Accept with Minor Revisions
  • Revise and Resubmit
  • Reject

Copyright

Authors generally retain copyright ownership of their work.

By publishing with EIU Press, authors grant the Press a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute, archive, and promote the work.

Specific arrangements will be outlined within the publication agreement.

Publication Formats

Publications may be released in one or more formats, including:

  • PDF
  • ePub
  • Print-on-Demand
  • Other approved digital formats

The final publication format shall be determined by EIU Press.

Publication Fees

At present, EIU Press does not guarantee publication without cost.

Publication fees, if applicable, will be communicated to authors in advance and may vary depending on:

  • Publication type
  • Production requirements
  • Editing requirements
  • Design requirements

Fee waivers or institutional support may be available in certain circumstances.

Author Biography

Authors should provide a brief biography including:

  • Current position
  • Institutional affiliation
  • Academic qualifications
  • Research interests
  • Selected achievements (optional)

Recommended length: 100-200 words.

Publication timelines vary depending on:

  • Manuscript quality
  • Review requirements
  • Revision requirements
  • Production complexity

The Press will make reasonable efforts to communicate anticipated timelines throughout the publication process.
