Editorial Policy

EIU Press is committed to publishing high-quality scholarly and professional works that contribute to the advancement of knowledge, education, research, innovation, and professional practice.

The Press seeks to support faculty members, researchers, doctoral candidates, and practitioners by providing a platform for the dissemination of rigorous, relevant, and impactful scholarly content.

EIU Press publishes works including, but not limited to:

• Academic books
• Scholarly monographs
• Doctoral dissertation monographs
• Conference proceedings
• Textbooks
• Professional handbooks
• Edited volumes
• Educational resources
• Research-based professional publications

Publications may be issued in digital and/or print formats.

Editorial decisions shall be made independently and solely on the basis of academic merit, scholarly quality, originality, relevance, and alignment with the mission of EIU Press.

Editorial decisions shall not be influenced by:

• Race
• Nationality
• Gender
• Religion
• Political beliefs
• Institutional affiliation
• Personal relationships
• Financial considerations

All publications must demonstrate:

• Academic rigor
• Originality
• Clarity of presentation
• Appropriate methodology, where applicable
• Accurate citation and referencing
• Ethical conduct
• Contribution to knowledge, practice, or education

Submissions must be written in clear and professional English and meet the formatting requirements established by EIU Press.

Publications may undergo editorial review, peer review, or both, depending on the publication type.

Peer review may be conducted by qualified internal or external reviewers possessing relevant academic or professional expertise.

The Editor-in-Chief shall determine the most appropriate review process for each publication.

Following review, manuscripts may receive one of the following decisions:

• Accept
• Accept with Minor Revisions
• Revise and Resubmit
• Reject

The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to request revisions to improve quality, clarity, formatting, compliance, or scholarly standards prior to publication.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

• Their work is original.
• All sources are appropriately cited.
• Permissions have been obtained where required.
• The work does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others.
• Any use of artificial intelligence tools is disclosed in accordance with EIU Press policies.
• The manuscript complies with applicable ethical standards.

EIU Press maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward:

• Plagiarism
• Fabrication of data
• Falsification of data
• Duplicate publication
• Unauthorized use of copyrighted material
• Misrepresentation of authorship

Where significant errors, ethical concerns, or integrity issues are identified after publication, EIU Press reserves the right to issue:

• Corrections
• Clarifications
• Expressions of Concern
• Retractions

Such actions shall be undertaken in accordance with established academic publishing standards.

Authors shall retain copyright to their work unless otherwise specified through a separate publication agreement.

Authors grant EIU Press the non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, archive, and promote the work in approved formats.

Specific copyright arrangements shall be outlined within the publication agreement for each publication.

Publications may be released in one or more of the following formats:

• PDF
• ePub
• Print-on-Demand
• Other approved digital formats

EIU Press reserves the right to determine the most appropriate publication format for each work.

The Editor-in-Chief shall have final authority regarding editorial decisions, publication suitability, and adherence to the policies of EIU Press.

The Founding Patron & Publisher shall provide strategic oversight but shall not interfere with editorial decisions relating to scholarly quality and publication merit.

EIU Press reserves the right to revise this Editorial Policy periodically to reflect developments in academic publishing, ethical standards, technology, and institutional priorities.
