Stewards of the local church are referred to as: elders, deacons, and bishops etc. 
Examination of biblical Hebrew and Greek words for them, as well as scriptural references related 
to leaders inform the present discussion. The findings from researching them lead to methods for 
the modern local church to steward the body of Christ more effectively. Including bringing about 
unity in church leadership, fostering positive working relationships between paid and unpaid elders 
and staff, and conducting searches for new personnel, and how to select the right person from a 
pool of applicants.
