works.<\/p>\n<p>Authors remain the legal copyright holders of their intellectual property.<\/p>\n<p>Publication through EIU Press does not transfer copyright ownership to the Press.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">3<\/span><h2>Publishing License<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>By accepting publication with EIU Press, authors grant the Press a non-exclusive, worldwide license to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Publish the work.<\/li>\n<li>Distribute the work.<\/li>\n<li>Archive the work.<\/li>\n<li>Market and promote the work.<\/li>\n<li>Make the work available in approved formats.<\/li>\n<li>Include the work in future catalogs, repositories, and promotional materials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This license enables EIU Press to publish and maintain access to the work while allowing authors to retain copyright ownership.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">4<\/span><h2>Publication Formats<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>The granted publishing license applies to formats including, but not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>PDF<\/li>\n<li>ePub<\/li>\n<li>Print-on-Demand editions<\/li>\n<li>Online publication<\/li>\n<li>Institutional repositories<\/li>\n<li>Future digital formats developed by EIU Press<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">5<\/span><h2>Author Rights<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>Authors retain the right to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be identified as the creator of their work.<\/li>\n<li>Reuse portions of their work in future publications.<\/li>\n<li>Use their work for teaching, research, and educational purposes.<\/li>\n<li>Deposit approved versions in personal or institutional repositories.<\/li>\n<li>Share their work with colleagues and students.<\/li>\n<li>Include their work in future edited volumes or collections.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Such use must appropriately acknowledge original publication by EIU Press.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">6<\/span><h2>Publisher Rights<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>EIU Press reserves the right to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Publish and distribute accepted works.<\/li>\n<li>Assign ISBNs and publication identifiers.<\/li>\n<li>Archive publications permanently.<\/li>\n<li>Produce revised editions where authorized.<\/li>\n<li>Market and promote publications.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain publication records and metadata.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Press may discontinue distribution of a publication where necessary for legal, ethical, or operational reasons.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">7<\/span><h2>Third-Party Content<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to use copyrighted materials owned by third parties, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Figures<\/li>\n<li>Images<\/li>\n<li>Tables<\/li>\n<li>Graphs<\/li>\n<li>Illustrations<\/li>\n<li>Photographs<\/li>\n<li>Extended quotations<\/li>\n<li>Other copyrighted content<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Authors shall provide evidence of permissions when requested.<\/p>\n<p>Failure to obtain necessary permissions may result in delays, revisions, or rejection of the manuscript.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">8<\/span><h2>Open Access Publications<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>EIU Press may publish certain works under an open-access model.<\/p>\n<p>Where open-access publication is selected, the applicable licensing terms shall be specified within the publication agreement and clearly displayed within the published work.<\/p>\n<p>The Press may adopt Creative Commons licenses or other approved licensing frameworks where appropriate.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">9<\/span><h2>Commercial Distribution<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>EIU Press may distribute publications through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The EIU Press website<\/li>\n<li>Institutional repositories<\/li>\n<li>Digital download platforms<\/li>\n<li>Print-on-Demand services<\/li>\n<li>Academic distribution partners<\/li>\n<li>Online bookstores<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Revenue generated through publication sales shall be managed in accordance with university policies and any applicable publication agreements.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">10<\/span><h2>Infringement and Unauthorized Use<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, modification, or commercial use of copyrighted materials published by EIU Press may constitute copyright infringement.<\/p>\n<p>The Press reserves the right to take appropriate action to protect the intellectual property rights of authors and the university.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">11<\/span><h2>Withdrawal and Removal Requests<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>Requests for withdrawal or removal of published works shall be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n<p>Removal may be considered in circumstances involving:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Legal requirements<\/li>\n<li>Copyright disputes<\/li>\n<li>Ethical concerns<\/li>\n<li>Significant publication errors<\/li>\n<li>Court orders or regulatory requirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The scholarly record shall be preserved wherever
