transparency, professionalism, and ethical conduct in academic publishing.<\/p>\n<p>This Publication Ethics Policy establishes the responsibilities of authors, reviewers, editors, and all individuals involved in the publication process and is intended to promote trust, accountability, and scholarly excellence.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">2<\/span><h2>Principles<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>EIU Press adheres to the following principles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Academic integrity<\/li>\n<li>Honesty and transparency<\/li>\n<li>Fairness and impartiality<\/li>\n<li>Respect for intellectual property<\/li>\n<li>Responsible research and publication practices<\/li>\n<li>Accountability in scholarly communication<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All participants in the publishing process are expected to uphold these principles.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">3<\/span><h2>Author Responsibilities<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>Authors submitting work to EIU Press must ensure that:<\/p>\n<div class=\"sub\">3.1 Originality<\/div>\n<p>Submitted works are original and have not been plagiarized from other sources.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sub\">3.2 Proper Citation<\/div>\n<p>All ideas, data, quotations, figures, tables, and materials derived from other sources are appropriately acknowledged and cited.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sub\">3.3 Accuracy<\/div>\n<p>Information presented within the publication is accurate to the best of the author&#x27;s knowledge.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sub\">3.4 Multiple Submission<\/div>\n<p>The same manuscript is not simultaneously under consideration by another publisher unless explicitly disclosed and approved.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sub\">3.5 Authorship<\/div>\n<p>All listed authors have made a meaningful contribution to the work and have approved the final manuscript.<\/p>\n<p>Individuals who have not made a substantial contribution should not be listed as authors.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sub\">3.6 Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest<\/div>\n<p>Authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the work.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">4<\/span><h2>Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>Authors may use artificial intelligence tools to support writing, editing, language improvement, literature exploration, or other academic activities.<\/p>\n<p>However:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Authors remain fully responsible for all submitted content.<\/li>\n<li>AI tools may not be listed as authors.<\/li>\n<li>Authors must verify the accuracy of AI-generated content.<\/li>\n<li>Fabricated citations, references, or data are strictly prohibited.<\/li>\n<li>Significant use of AI tools should be disclosed where appropriate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Editor-in-Chief may request clarification regarding AI use during the editorial process.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">5<\/span><h2>Research Ethics<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>Where publications involve research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data, authors must ensure compliance with applicable ethical standards and regulatory requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Authors may be required to provide evidence of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval<\/li>\n<li>Ethics committee approval<\/li>\n<li>Participant consent<\/li>\n<li>Data protection compliance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>where applicable.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">6<\/span><h2>Reviewer Responsibilities<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>Reviewers engaged by EIU Press shall:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct reviews objectively and professionally.<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate manuscripts based on scholarly merit.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain confidentiality.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid personal criticism.<\/li>\n<li>Disclose conflicts of interest.<\/li>\n<li>Decline review assignments where impartiality cannot be maintained.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Reviewers shall not use unpublished information obtained through the review process for personal, professional, or financial advantage.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">7<\/span><h2>Editor Responsibilities<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>The Editor-in-Chief shall:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make editorial decisions fairly and objectively.<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate submissions solely on academic merit.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain confidentiality during the review process.<\/li>\n<li>Address ethical concerns promptly and appropriately.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure compliance with EIU Press policies.<\/li>\n<li>Promote transparency and integrity in all publishing activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Editorial decisions shall not be influenced by personal, political, institutional, financial, or commercial interests.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">8<\/span><h2>Plagiarism Policy<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>EIU Press maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism.<\/p>\n<p>Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Copying text without attribution<\/li>\n<li>Presenting another person&#x27;s ideas as one&#x27;s own<\/li>\n<li>Improper paraphrasing<\/li>\n<li>Unauthorized use of figures, tables, or images<\/li>\n<li>Self-plagiarism without appropriate disclosure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Manuscripts found to contain significant plagiarism may be rejected immediately.<\/p>\n<p>Where plagiarism is discovered after publication, corrective action may be taken.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">9<\/span><h2>Data Fabrication and Falsification<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>Authors must not:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fabricate data<\/li>\n<li>Manipulate data deceptively<\/li>\n<li>Falsify results<\/li>\n<li>Misrepresent findings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Any evidence of fabrication or falsification may result in rejection, retraction, or other corrective actions deemed appropriate by EIU Press.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">10<\/span><h2>Duplicate and Redundant Publication<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>Authors must not submit or publish substantially identical works in multiple publications without appropriate disclosure and approval.<\/p>\n<p>Legitimate republication, translation, or adaptation may be considered when properly disclosed and approved.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">11<\/span><h2>Conflicts of Interest<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>All participants in the publication process shall disclose conflicts of interest that may influence, or appear to influence, editorial decisions, reviews, or publication outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>Conflicts may include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Financial interests<\/li>\n<li>Employment relationships<\/li>\n<li>Institutional affiliations<\/li>\n<li>Personal relationships<\/li>\n<li>Professional rivalries<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Editor-in-Chief shall determine appropriate management of disclosed conflicts.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">12<\/span><h2>Complaints and Appeals<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a written explanation to the Editor-in-Chief.<\/p>\n<p>Complaints regarding editorial conduct, reviewer conduct, publication ethics, or procedural concerns shall be reviewed fairly and objectively.<\/p>\n<p>The decision of the Editor-in-Chief shall normally be considered final.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">13<\/span><h2>Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>EIU Press reserves the right to issue:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Corrections<\/li>\n<li>Clarifications<\/li>\n<li>Expressions of Concern<\/li>\n<li>Retractions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>when necessary to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.<\/p>\n<p>Such actions may be taken in cases involving:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Significant errors<\/li>\n<li>Ethical violations<\/li>\n<li>Plagiarism<\/li>\n<li>Data fabrication<\/li>\n<li>Authorship disputes<\/li>\n<li>Other integrity concerns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section class=\"section\"><div class=\"heading\"><span class=\"num\">14<\/span><h2>Commitment to Ethical Publishing<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"body\">\n<p>EIU Press is committed to fostering a culture of
